Tiramisù literally means “pick me up” in Italian, and it is one of those desserts that proves a simple combination can become something unforgettable.
Coffee, mascarpone, cocoa and soft layers come together without needing anything complicated. Like so much Italian food, the appeal is in balance rather than excess.
The coffee gives tiramisù its lift, while the mascarpone brings richness and softness. It is sweet, but when it is made well it should still feel light enough to finish a meal.
Tiramisù is a good example of the same principle we love in pizza: a short ingredient list leaves nowhere to hide. Each part needs to work with the others.
Too much coffee and it becomes bitter. Too much cream and it becomes heavy. Too much cocoa and the balance disappears.
Italian meals are often about rhythm. You begin slowly, share food, talk, eat, pause and then finish with something sweet and coffee.
That is why desserts like tiramisù feel so natural at the end of a long table.

Buon appetito.
